I hope nobody is going to get hurt by the following:

I play hundreds of games each week and I see that in a tournament anything can
happen. I currently have a version that scores more than 65% against Chess Tiger
11.2. In a 30 games match, it is usual to see scores under 50% for a while. The
score then goes up and stabilizes as games are played. Obviously, the new
version is better than the older, but I cannot say so by looking at just one
game. I cannot even tell which is stronger by looking at the result of a 10
games match. I begin to have a clear idea after 20 games have been played.

Don Dailey told us one time that he was doing 400 games matches to evaluate a
new version. I just do 60. I know it would be better with more games, but I
don't have enough time to do so.

So in my opinion, given the quality of many "amateur" programs by now, the 11
round tournament we had in Paris is a big joke.

I'm not looking for excuses to my ugly 27th rank. I somehow feel that I deserved
the rank I got. But I want to make it clear that in Paris there are several
programs that could have win the title as well.

Unless Junior is 100 or 200 elo points above the rest (and it is not, I hope you
see no offense, Amir) we could play the tournament again and have another
winner. I think any program within the first 10 ranks could win if we started
the tournament again.

And if we started again and make it a 100 rounds tournament, it is LIKELY that
the winner would be... No I'm not going to say it and start another endless
thread. Well... I'm thinking about a program written by a dutch guy and sold by
a german company. Currently in its 5th version.

In fact, the only real World Microcomputer Chess Championship is the swedish
list. Yes guys. Gathering all programers together in a 11 rounds tournament
serves 2 purposes:
* We meet each other, and it is a real pleasure
* 3 of us will go back home with a world title (amateur, professional and blitz
champion), so they will -maybe- make a little money out of their hobby.

And it is a good thing. Because even if you are not the best, but just near the
best, you can get a nice title!

If I get one of these titles one day, I will immediately claim that 11 rounds
tournaments are fair and that no luck is involved. Of course. :)

I translate for non french reading people: "Well, when are we going to see a
finished Tiger 11? What do you think about playing with the beta version I have
against Morovic? What are you doing?" (not sure about the last sentence)

Answer:

I would be glad to see a Morovic-Tiger match. Can you arrange that? It would be
great. If this match is possible, I send you my new hot 11.5 beta version,
because 11.4 is a little bit outdated now.

11.5 has a special anti-human mode. I think it would give Morovic a good time! I
have tested it against a 1900 fide elo human player, and Tiger on P200 won the
21 games match 18.5 - 2.5. Some games were 30mnKO and some others were 1hKO. I
have no stronger player here to test further.
