If you compare Fritz 7 on the latest hardware of 2000 versus Fritz 5.32 on the
latest single cpu computer of today an intel 2.53 Ghz, you can almost say that
the curve of chess knowledge improvement in the last two years is equal to
replacing the best chess program of 2000 and using it on the latest and fastest
single cpu of today. Based on this info we can almost create our own law of
chess knowledge improvement, just like the MOORE LAW. Therefore, we can also say
that fritz 7 which is the highest rated program on the SSDF currently, will be
equal in strength using the fastest single cpu in the year 2004, compared to the
latest fritz ? in two years from now using today fastest single cpu computer an
intel 2.53 ghz.
SSDF Rating list of 2002
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
RA Programa Rating + - Part Porc Pr/A
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Fritz 7.0 256MB Athlon 1200 GHz 2748 38 -35 395 68% 2616
2 Chess Tiger 14.0 CB 256MB Athlon 1200 2714 34 -33 460 63% 2619
Fritz 7.0 128MB K6-2 450 MHz 2631 45 -44 250 56% 2592
Fritz 5.32 128MB K6-2 450 MHz 2553 24 -23 890 55% 2514
To summarize it, if you take Fritz 5.32 using and AMD 1200 Ghz and match it
against Fritz 7.0 using and AMD K6 450 Mhz after 100 games their score could end
up very closed, due to the 80 rating points difference.
