As far as I know, this isn't really an issue of Chessbase lying or doing anything else. Experimental versions of Fritz have been entered in computer competitions for many years under the name Quest. I assume that the author did the same thing in this situation. No deep dark hidden agenda... although sometimes I wish there was one.
