I wrote my own opening book. A smaller version was in present in Leiden, but it didn't play because of a configuration error. It got it's big trial in Maastricht. Like Gerd, I just combine general opening references and specific books on the variations I like my engine to play. I can make my books in ChessBase and import the result into my engine directly, or into most interfaces. It takes time, but I find it pleasant, and it can often be done while I'm running engine tests in the background. It got busted 3 times in Maastricht, once with a trap I didn't know, two times with newer theory than what was in the book. Overall, I did get the positions I wanted to play, so I'm reasonably happy with it. That said, if I'd find a good bookauthor I'd trust, I'd gladly leave the bookmess to someone else :) -- GCP
