I won't go quite that far. IE for Cray Blitz, I definitely did my own book, with Bert Gower (one of the three team members) helping. In Crafty, the book has two parts.. the large part, digested from public PGN games, the small part is hand-crafted by myself to avoid openings I don't think Crafty plays well, and favoring openings that it does play well...
