Don't try to spent money which isn't there yet. If you manage to organize a big event, sure the europeans will come. I will at least. Here is the problem: i won't come if nothing is at stake. I don't mean a few beers then or a prize. I don't come for a price. But an ACM title. If i play there i expect to see Bob in person for example, and Bruce, i don't travel over the ocean to face a few operators or remote playing programs. In fact i've never seen Bob in living person! Whatever you say, the european programs right now dominate the world champs. This world champs number 1 to 5 were european. 3 of them even actually living within 200KM from maastricht (quest, diep, shredder from which shredder is living closest to maastricht). Junior team travelled all from Israel and is doing that each year. Chance for a world champ tournament in israel is real small, though i would go there. 2003 is graz, perhaps you can organize 2004 a world champs in USA? All you need is a sponsor and a location to keep it. The ICGA will take care of the rest (including robbing the local bank). then all europeans for sure will go to USA. No need for plane tickets. I happily pay for one to play in USA. i bet Peter McKenzie will be real happy if a tournament gets held in USA too, Instead of 24 hours he only needs to travel like 9 hours by plane then ;) Best regards, Vincent
