The whole point is to go meet the authors, since otherwise you could just hold the event on the net and it would be BETTER that way, because presumably the authors could at least be at their keyboards. It is a big expense to go. That would send a strong message, but I don't think it's necessary to send that kind of a message. A very strong message is sent by simply having a successful event. The ICCA is of the opinion that computer chess is dead outside of Europe. bruce
