There is something to that statement.  Especially since many losses are book
losses.  I guess what I am saying is that a bad book can be worse than no book.

I remember many occasions where programs have fallen out of book in a contest in
a position so bad that it was lost the moment the program left it.

So I think a book can be either a great power for strength -- or *weakness*
!
