Never heard of such a ban. The M-Chess book also liked 1.e4 e5 2.Bc4. It has proven - in it's time (which is just a few years ago) - that you don't need to play mainstream openings always (boring), to be successful. But book isn't everything. M-Chess' engine was competitive in it's time (i.e., Micro World Champion 1995). http://www.mark-weeks.com/chess/95wm$tix.htm M-Chess 8's SSDF results aren't very good though. Time didn't stand still. http://w1.859.telia.com/~u85924109/ssdf/nr041.htm Regards, M.Scheidl
