First off let me say this : 1. I see no need to trick anyone ... why would I want to do that and whats the purpose. 2. I am no programmer ... I am like most that post here .... I just like tweaking things ... When i do what i do I have no idea how things are going to work or if they are going to work. But with kind people like Dr Hyatt, Dan Corbit and Carlos del Cacho they help me a lot when i have questions. I have post here many times asking for help when trying to tweak something. Many others have helped as well. 3. So basically what it boils down to I have no programming experience .. just the love for chess and like to tweak things ... I am not a person to be concern with the rating results of the program i run on ICC. So times i will make a change that makes very very bad must. Some times you have no idea when and where the will pop up. I hope one that that by fooling with the codes that are freely availiable that i might be able to write my own program 1 day. 4. I basically thing of crazy off the wall things and say .. I wonder how this program will work if I did this ... for an example .. ( If everyone thinks that crafty 17.14 is so great ... I wonder how great it will be if I took the eval code for it and put it into the newer crafty's of today). 5. As for this Crafty Clone Matrix .... I seen some files in one of Dan's builds (Blob.c) and earlier i had got DBCrafty from Vincent to test for him ... so those same codes that Dan had in his codes, I knew where part of Vincents DBCrafty. I always used the Blob.c files that Dan had .... but was wonder about a few extra code he had that i never seen before. Such as the searche.c, searchb.c and hashb.c, I knew what the sing.c was but i had no idea what the other files were for ... but i knew from Dan's Blob.c that it initiates those other files in a different way. So basically I asked him for all the files that where different ... I bet also he was thinking Good Luck Bro because I can't help you on this one. But he was kind enough to send me the files. Honestly I had no idea what was going to happen. 6. Just to get it to work was very very difficult for me ( not being a programmer) ... But it was Slater and Dr Hyatt that helped me with my last bug. Slater even sent me a copy that was compiled but always crashed within 5 seconds of the start of the program. I started looking throught the code and just started clearing up the warnings and comparing them with some things Vincent did in his DBCrafty and finally I got a working copy ... but it was weak. I fact i sent out a copy to someone that wanted to test it for me ... and i felt i was on his payroll or something .... he basically said it was crap ... hey I am thinking to myself I am just like you ... I never said it was going to be a commercial killer ... But yesterday I think i finally got a good build. I was basically losing to every program on ICC with it ... then I notice at longer time controls it seems to play a little bit better ... in fact the operator of Yace thought that it played great ... I notice that in closed positions and longer time controls it seems to have a better understanding about what was going on. Well I guess in what I am trying to say ..... I am just like a lot of you Just a want to be. I do this for the love off computer chess ....
