The problem is that you cannot compare +2.5 of different programs because they do not mean the same thing. I do not have chess system tal but I suspect that it may see +2.5 even faster for positional reasons(of course it does not mean that chess sytem tal is better in tactics). In the case of deep blue I do not know if the +2.5 is for tactical reasons or for positional reasons. I also do not say that finding +2.5 for positional reasons is bad but I believe that some research should be done before doing it if the target is to do productive changes and it is not simple to do it in productive way.
