Hi, In fact that was RebelXP (which is great! Thanks, Ed.), which "persuaded" me to install Windows 98 again. When I did that, I somehow came over my old and well-forgotten CD of Powerchess98. I installed it and it crashed soon after I played the King (as expected). Patches fixed nothing and program kept crashing itself and Windows as well... Sounds familiar? BUT it looks I have found the work-around for this problem: 1) Install the Powerchess98. 2) FORGET the shortcuts it makes! 3) Forget about patches as well. 4) Run the Autoplay.exe from CD and chose Run. I have played 5 games now, and I still have to see a crash. I do not know what difference is there - is it running the program from CD and just saving games in installation directory or what -, but it runs (even now,in background while I write this message)! Have a great chess! Didzis Cirulis
