This could also be an argument against the clock in games that are slower than
blitz. The clock was added to keep people from thinking all day. You can't sit
there for three hours when you have two hours on the clock, your opponent will
call your flag, and didn't actually mate your king. And yes, you might have had
a better position at the time.

Same thing with blitz. If you want to play blitz, the clock is sitting here
there in front of you, it is quite visible, the amount of time on it is quite
visible, and if you forget about it or use too much time, you'll lose, even if
the extra time you used allowed you to get a winning position.

The clock is part of the game, just like the queen-side. You can't say that you
were winning just because you had a good king-side attack, but your opponent
unfairly avoided it by destroying your queen-side. Same thing with the clock,
you have to win on the board and on the clock, or you lose.
