what i do, ex. gm2600.pgn from hyatt ftp, make new scid database with same name.
gm2600. then, open in under scid. then. click on import pgn files - gm2600.pgn
to scid . after scid import gm2600.pgn, i do changes, etc.

if want to change back to pgn, i export scid gm2600 database to newly named
mymodified2600.pgn (so not confuse with original gm2600.pgn)

guess need to change pgn type file to scid database format so scid operate
faster.
