I believe that the licensing terms are listed in the comments at the top of
main.c in the Crafty source code.  As I read those terms, if you want to do
anything more than make changes for your own personal use, you need Dr. Hyatt's
permission.

Using a modified Crafty on a chess server appears to be one of those areas that
needs Dr. Hyatt's permission, so that the modified version is properly
identified as a modified version of Crafty.
