Subject: Q about null modem cables and auto 232.

I am thinking of linking my laptop and desktop for matches between different
chess programs, my silly question is.. Is a null modem cable the same as the
Auto 232 cable that is referred to on the rebel site (quoted at approx $99:(()?
If it is does anyone here know where I can pick one up in the UK (London
specifically)? Is there a simple explanation why I can't play my 2 computers
through my LAN?
