Is there a simple explanation why I can't play my 2 computers >through my LAN? >many thanks >Rory i think there are 2 types of null-modem cable. i went into a shop and bought a 2nd cable for my 2nd autoplayer pair and it worked . but i have also heard from people who bought a null modem and it did not work. IF you buy a null-modem cable. use ONE where you can open the plug that you can later change the cable if it is NOT working. ask somebody who HAS a working cable. you can measure how the cable is configured. but it needs a little investigation :-)) some programs have autoplay via lan possible. or even USB.- you can watch out the menues in the chessbase GUI's or other GUI's. i prefer auto232. since it runs with ALL programs. dos, chessbase, non chessbase. even for winboard you have an adaptor.
