Computer chess is not all that new - many different hardware configurations have
been tested out with different chess programs.

The results vary, depending on lots of things, including the cache effeciency
the CPU has with that program, the latency of the memory (and bus), etc.

In every test I've seen, the CPU clock speed had the most direct effect on chess
program performance. Have you seen or done tests that indicate otherwise?

Why not test it yourself on your own computer and report the results? Sometimes
the results are surprising, but always interesting.
