Very long time ago, I suggested an idea to have a free ICS server, where only computer accounts will play, and there won't be any restrictions for registration. Considering the fact that we have some many people with in the computer-chess community and many great programmers, I am still surprised that it has not yet been done. Chess.net takes money for comp accounts. ICC takes money. FICS doesn't care. Fritzserver limited to UCI engine and chessbase native engine, and perhaps winboard engines with a little hacking, using uci2wb converter. Not to mention you have to buy the original CD. Besides Frtizserver is no fun :(. By the way, if you are interested, let me know, we can play some games on Chess.net over the weekend. There are others in CCC who also has account in chess.net, I believe Volker (Winboard forum) and Sarah has one. cheers, pavs
