Hackneyed prattle, completely missing the point. Since computers compete against Grandmasters on equal terms and will inevitably conclusively surpass them very soon, why pay Kasparov $750,000 to lose against a home computer. How is that to be funded. And he is being paid to lose to the computer. There is no reason on earth to pay him that much if a defining moment in chess is not expected by the organisers. Unless it is a plan for the hapless FIDE to get back in bed with the real world champion. Certainly any subsequent champion vs. computer rematches will not deserve much interest or money either. (a great amount of money in the relatively poorly rewarded sport of chess). I also do not think the match will go ahead, not at the quoted conditions.
