For the first position, Chessmaster 9000 says Mate in 7 in one second on a
PIII-600:

For the second position, after Qf6, it takes Chessmaster 9000, on a PIII-600,
2:27 to see that taking the queen loses. By then it's too late to see anything
better in a reasonable amount of time (if anything better even exists!):
