This was Shay's opinion. Neither he nor I are faulting you in any way, but his
point was that to serve the wide interests of computer chess, you want to make
such events as "serious" as possible.

Here are some ideas I can think of for you:

- Contact the local chess federation, and offer to make this match an exhibition
side-show for one of their main events. If they're interested, ask them to
contribute to the prize funds. Chess is usually starved for media coverage, and
this may be an attraction that will get the television cameras and reporters
there. I'm guessing that Ivan is a local star, and your federation may not mind
putting up money if they know Ivan will get it.

- You are a journalist, no ? Cover this event in detail in CCR, and find out how
much they are willing to pay for this.

- Bruce runs on an Alpha. This is a good enough reason to call your local DEC
office, tell them about this, and ask if they want to be involved.

- Tell TWIC, and others about the event and the schedule. Mark Crowther finds
these events important enough to announce and report, if he's told about them.

- Ask ICC for sponsorship. They'll often do that. After all you are creating an
attraction on their site.

Ivan is not going to pay for his house out of this, but at least I think this
will make his wife want him to play, instead of vetoing it :)
