After 73 games - Crafty 17.16 SE leads Aristarch 4.4 42.5-31.5 Crafty 17.16 SE is based on Bob Hyatt's original Crafty 17.14 with some "engine" changes as well as some utility changes: Engine Changes include: Modified extensions. Additional Extensions. Modified Piece Values. Modified Evaluation Code. Modified Piece Square Value. Modified Time Usage. Added Crafty's Bishop 18.xx Pair Code. Utiity Changes Include: Ability to change Piece Values by using the "value" command Ability to select from 16 predefined levels that step up in approx 100-150 point elo increments by using the "krafty" command. As you step up, crafy wll roughly have 2x depth vision at eacuh level with a more appropriate piece value. This command uses both the "value" command and for the lower 13 levels also uses the new "delay move" command (see below). Add delay move command by using the "dm" command. This command is useful where you lowered the strength of crafty by using either a search depth command "sd" or the new "krafty" command above. It can be set a fixed time e.g. dm=10 will delay crafty's move by 10 seconds AFTER the completion of the calculated move, or dm=9999 will calculate the delay move time based on the winboard "level" command. For example, say you you want to play Crafty at search depth=5 in agame at 5 3. Normally if select crafty to play at search depth=5 , it will move almost instantly through out the entire game as sd=5 is just too shallow of a search for crafty on fast machines. By using dm=9999, it will compute it's move and then delay making the move for the appropriate number of seconds based on the time of the game either a blitz game 5 3 , a standard game 60 0 or any level you selected before responging on the board. It doesn't matter whether you are on fast machine or a slow machine, it will adjust for the hardware of your machine and your game settings. Using this command, a very slow machine and very fast machine, Crafty 17.16 Se will play exaxtly the same on both machines on one of the lower 13 preselected defined "krafty" settings. Original Crafty source by Bob Hyatt (thousands and thousands of lines of code) Modification by Mike Byrne ( a few lines of code).
