I can't remember previous infos about the Karpov 2294 (the rating question for it comes up then and when, also on other message boards). But I think it is built around old NOVAG technology and -program. *Maybe* (I'm not sure at all) it's the NOVAG Ruby/Emerald, the predecessor of the Sapphire/Diamond I. But I remember having read something like this. The ratings given by manufacturers are usually "optimistic", even for the USCF rating scale. Maybe Kurt Kispert will read this and have a better answer. He also has these old SSDF chess computer ratings, where you will probably find the SSDF elo of that other computer, when we know which one it really is: http://216.122.37.159/brettschachcomputer/eloliste.htm (before the rating adjustment of -100) Regards, M.Scheidl
