After downloading Cake++ (thanks) and KingsRow I had great fun watching them play - fascinating. But how does anyone ever win. Even on PCs these programs play must be not be very far removed from perfection. (And I only have the 4 man egtbs installed.). Chess may be more complex than draughts, but from the perspective of practical play I wonder if it is easier because you have more opportunity to redeem yourself through previously unforeseen (and perhaps unforeseeable) tactics. If you watch the top chess programs play each other, even though they look even, often at some point a tactic emerges that leads to a winning position. Frank
