Slater, I think you are overestimating the price by overspecifying and counting things the guy would not need for his stated purpose. I am sure he doesn't need a lot of what you have in your own system. One thing I am curious about is why the need for so much memory and SCSI disks also. If it is to do with tablebases, does your main program read them from disk or can it load them into memory, or is either to do with another task primarily. I guess the job could be done closer to $1000 with savvy and cutting exorbitant codpiece-filling specifications down.
