The only limitation I'm aware of is, that you can't access ChessBase "cb-native"
engines with the classic GUI. - Except that, you can use any engines which are
installed in the respective GUI, IOW you have to do the necessary steps in each
GUI, i.e. when you have downloaded new engines, referring to the protocol the
engine is made for.

But in general, every engine which is installed correctly, can also be used for
engine matches. - Of course, the classic GUI does *not* take notice of engines
installed in the Fritz GUI (and vice versa) automatically.

In addition to that, you would even be able - for example - to play via Auto232
between 2 computers using one of the GUIs each. On one computer, you can install
any UCI engine in the Fritz GUI, and match it there against other engines...

I have Shredder 5 (1st "classic") und usually do my UCI engine matches there,
and use the Fritz GUI for matches, when I want cb-native engines to participate.
