My copy of this is copyright 1977, updated in 1983, which predates Deep Thought. If you are referring to the chart on page 209 of the updated edition, in the chapter by Condon and Thompson, this work has come under something of a pall because it was based upon matches between the same program running at depth D and D-1. The book itself is old, and contains at least one pretty goofy chapter (chapter 8), but there is some stuff about Belle, Chess 4.5, and a chapter by Newborn that contains some cool king and pawn endgame positions. bruce
