General overview on http://www.aceshardware.com/ There are links to the new
Platform Conference presentation. There is a discussion at
http://www.aceshardware.com/forum?read=80028199#TEXT Vans Hardware
http://www.vanshardware.com/ has a bunch of articles about the Opteron and
possible novel uses of it. It is an improvement on most fronts. Faster memory
access. Low latency. Better branch prediction. Double the amount of registers.
Two megs of cache is possible. Faster more efficient access of cache memory.
Linux is x86-64 ready. GCC will support it. New higher limit on how much memory
you can access. Old 32 bit apps should run, and may be given 4GB of own memory.
