There is one thing you overlooked, and that is that UCI gives no
game result information to the engine. Hence, learning when running
in UCI mode will simply never happen.

If there's a way to couple WinBoard with auto232 and run Sjeng in
WinBoard mode, then I have no problem with this. (Note that the
WinBoard adapter of ChessBase also doesn't send game result
information)

If you're genuinly interested in this, I'll adapt the engine so
the learning will even work in UCI mode and you can do your
experiment. But then again, why waste time with this when your
goal is pretty obviously only to make sneer remarks?

I don't get the goal of this. You've made remarks like this
before about my book handling. Old versions of my engine are freely
available. You can verify for yourself it has full book handling and
a fairly well working learner. What are you trying to prove with this
except making yourself look like a fool?

Of course, neither my tournament book nor Deep Sjeng are publicly
available. (and they will certainly never be for free)
