It's interesting how you mist to comment on the question. Since I have a bit
experience from debates with you in CSS the computerchess journal very closely
related with ChessBase, since F. Friedel is a leading member in both, I know
what your're trying to achieve. You're trying to define reality, usually the job
of ideologists. To understand what you mean it is helpful to keep in mind a few
of the companies possible interests.

The question here was why the prog GROMIT was allowed to play with FRITZ 7 ctg.
Allowed to play in the cyber space of amateurs end-users (customers)??? Of
course _not_!

GROMIT played with the FRITZ 7 ctg in SSDF! Yes!

Please could you be so kind and crawl back to find a reasonable definition for
the allowance, perhaps fairness is another important term to define here, of
such a malpractice? What is the official position of ChessBase?

(formerly known as 'Schachfan' in the CSS forum and always posting questions and
explanations with highly diplomatical terminology and then excluded because of
politely put questions to the known exclusion of the then leading SHREDDER in
the Enrique I. and SSDF affaires, which meant that companies are trying to
define the allowance of important critical questions... which is _not_
democracy, excuse the audacious conclusion, but I spend a lot of thoughts here)

P.S.

Since the region is almost my home I beg you to correct your use of the word
'Neandertal', thank you. 'Tal' means 'valley' in German. :)
