I have two questions; first in what language is your program written and second
how fast is the computer that you are running it on. Both of those things can
greatly effect the speed that your program can perform.
In my case, my program is written in Quick Basic and then compiled. Not very
fast, but in the fast mode, ie. one minute per move I can easily search 7 plys,
however reaching 8 plys would take much longer than a regulation game. I knew
that when I wrote the program and so far am quite happy with its results.
