I can give you some examples where Gromit did very well in tournaments too. E.g.
http://www.fsv.de/RR2001/provi.htm.

I read a post from Tony where he has asked which amateurengine should be next
used in the SSDF. I think the message was addressed to Frank Quisinsky here in
CCC. So I thought I can ask him, if the SSDF wants to test Gromit. Why didn´t
Dieter just asked them ?
