Subject: Why not limit number of daily posts?

It is obvious that certain people are posting a large number of messages that
are of little or no value to this group. Couple this with the fact that the
vast majority of members make only a few posts per day at most, and an obvious
idea becomes apparent: place a fixed limit on the number of posts made by a
singe person over a fixed time period. (Moderators not included)

An initial suggestion would be three per day, or perhaps better would be
something like 15 per 7 days.

Whatever limit is chosen, it will be a slight inconvenience for some people.
But please, consider for a moment the positive impact the policy would have on
this group. I see these as two fold:
1) Crazy slanging matches would be limited to a low volume of messages.
2) More thought would go into messages. Instead of just blasting off yet
another half thought out message, certain people might actually slow down a
fraction because they know they can't just blast out another message five
minutes later.

And hey, if you run out of messages for the day there is always the next day!
Or email...

Best Regards,
Peter McKenzie
