Just to try to avoid further misunderstandings: You did certainly nothing wrong when you applied for Gromit to being tested by SSDF. I learned that the SSDF concentrates on testing commercial programs. Only occasionally an amateur gets the chance to be tested - they have only little time for testing them as they need much time for the commercials. Now when the time comes to test another amateur I would have expected the SSDF to test one of the strongest availlable amateurs and not a private program. This is not directed against Gromit at all - I would have an easy time to prove that Gromit has always been one of my favourite engines, and your recent progress is impressive ! As a fan of amateurchess I won't deny that the rare amateur entries in the SSDF are of special interest for me, and that I got kind of frustrated that again Yace wasn't chosen as the probably most interesting current freeware which has already proven its strength and stability in various successful amateur basement events. If you look at my posts you'll notice that I simply wanted to learn how new entries are chosen, and yes - again : a privateware entry is of little interest for me as an ordinary user, that's my personal opinion. I understand this is different for you as one of Gromit's authors of course. If Dieter asked the SSDF to test his engine I don't know - but I also think it doesn't really matter. As far as I know at least some of the SSDF testers follow chessengine development and published results with big interest. And again: I certainly have no problems with you, Gromit or SSDF at all. I objected to one of their decisions ,explained why,and asked for their reasons, that's it. Kind regards, Peter
