This is a first sampling of data, and I intend to produce more data so that the estimate may become more reliable. I ran an experiment over the weekend at G/90 on an AMD Athlon 950 MHz, with 25 games completed. I did a compile of Crafty with a 'W' in the name and another compile with 'N' in the name so that I could tell which is which. I used the tournament book I compiled for crafty some time ago. I made two identical crafty directories, one with books and one without. Here is the result: Program Elo + - Games Score Av.Op. Draws 1 Crafty-18.15w : 2550 127 77 25 64.0 % 2450 56.0 % 2 Crafty-18.15n : 2450 77 127 25 36.0 % 2550 56.0 % Games to follow. My Ftp Site
