If you look at the top of the page of CCC you will find Compute Resources Center Once there you will find many links to information reguarding chess programming. There are also many books available on the subject. None of the sources will show you how to create a master playing strength program, but will start you on the right path. Most people can create programs with ratings in or around 2000 to 2200 elo, but from there on it is a matter of trial and error and a bit of luck to get anything stronger. If you look at most of the successful program you will find that their authors have been improving them over a period of years with lots of trials and errors. One difference you wil find in newer progams is that old chess knowledge states that pawns are worth about 1 point and queens about 9. In most chess programs today they use mutiples of 100 for each piece, that is 100 points for a pawn and 900 for a queen. Describing them in this way gives them lots of leeway for assigning points for other things like control of center squares, protect pawn chains, etc. Good luck with your quest Bill
