Trying to rip thru bits and pieces of 7.5 gigs of disk space is very I/O intensive, and comparing my 10K scsi drives to other types (EIDE for example) will show exactly how good SCSI drives really are when I/O throughput is the measure... If you reduce rotational latency by 2x, then you should see a corresponding improvement in search speed for positions where the program is probing the EGTBs heavily.
