I agree that in 40 minutes/40 moves the difference is bigger than in G/1 but my theory is that there is an optimal time control for programs with book and slower time control improve the situation for programs without book. My theory is that there may be few deep holes in the book that it takes a long time to find At 40/40 you are not going to find them but at longer time control you may find them. 40/40 is also better than blitz for the side with book because of the big number of mistakes in blitz. I was against long matches because I was afraid of repeating the same game again and again but it did not happen in the match yace against yace. Uri
