For the record, the Chessmaster 9000 opening book runs out at 9.0-0. After that, it is all engine. If you had played 9.f5 or 9.e5 or 9.Qf3, there would have been a response from book. The book was made based on over 40,000 all-GM games, and some culling was done to make sure that every move with a non-zero probability was played at least twice. Of course, this can lead to rare problems that can be exploited. But we wanted to make the book as eclectic as possible. Additionally, other options that could have been played were: 1...e5 or 1...e6 or 1...c6 2...e6 or 2...Nc6 5...Nc6 or 5...g6 or 5...e6 7...Be7 or 7...b5 or 7...Nc6 As for the line in general, this seems to be similar to what Eduard Nemeth is extremely good at doing to all of the top engines -- starting an attack that is too deep to see. But, since the opening book is so varied, it might take you quite some time before you can get to play that line again.... jm
