I like chess on Palm. The picture is sharp enough even on monochrome. You will be surprised when you see it first time. I can imagine that color display is even better, but I haven’t tried it. Nothing that I feel as a must have. Pocketchess for Palm is weak in a boring way. See example in message below. Chess Genius for Palm is strong enough for 99.9 of us. But it lacks some important features. You have to go into the menu every time you want to go back and forth e.g. Chesstiger for Palm is the strongest. It has very comfortable menus beside the board with easy symbols. You can also easy change to big board covering all the display. It is easy to change board size with a menu button symbol that always is there on Palm itself. You have six boards with different sizes, and possibilities and info. It has 8 nice trainer levels that shall imitate ELO 1000 to 1800 Fide ratings. Accuracy is good enough for training. Here you can see roughly where you stand. Another good feature is that you can decide when the device shall shut off from the program itself. In Palm max is three minutes. That isn’t enough for chess playing and for analyzes. In Chesstiger max is 999 minutes. The only thing I miss is the possibility to play engine-engine. Can be good for seeing how Tiger handles a situation. I am a fan of this program. I really can recommend it of all my heart. And it really has a low price. Georg
