On the other hand, if you want to run two programs at the same time and have only one CD drive, that can truly be a pest. The way to vote is with your pocketbook. If you don't like these products, then buy the ones that do not perform the check. At some point, either the manufacturers will change their thinking (if the stampede to other products is large enough) or nothing will happen (if people don't think the detriment of loading a CD is worse than the cheaper price or better features or whatever else is driving program sales).
