1) After seeing all the great chess sets in CM9k I want to get some great looking chess sets of my own. :) 2) No auto232/DGT board support. True story: I'm playing a rated game, 40/40/40/40, CM9 vs. Fritz7, on twin Athlons 1900's. About 48 moves into the game, I'm making a move with CM's mouse, and a little gnat flies into my left eye. I drop the king on the wrong square. Oh shit! Of course, there are no take backs, it's a rated game. Fortunately, CM was already ahead by + 4.34 or so, and had a won game. 3) I wish CM9 had a way to give it's evaluation of a rated game. Not a PV, but just an eval score for the current position, even in rated games. 4) I wish CM9 had a "board sound" for move announcement, instead of that infernal "error ding" of windows. Naturally, I'm going to locate that board sound in the Fritz7 machine, and make it the default windows "error ding" ASAP. After a couple games, those "error dings" can drive you - well, dingy. I know you can shut off all the sound, but I need something audible when manning the twin athlons. 5) I believe CM9 will prove somewhat weaker than Fritz7. So far each has won one game as white, and lost one game as black. Fritz7 tries harder to get a knight on a good post, and eventually, to cause CM9 to get a less favorable pawn structure. CM9 gives Fritz7 fits because it is aggressive in the middlegame, and Fritz7 just can't get the time to build up a better attack. This, from a player who can't beat either one of these programs, so take it with a LARGE grain of salt. Just my opinion, and MUCH more testing needed here. 6) After reading the CM manual, I hate the Fritz7 manual, even more. And I need to review the Fritz manual, which just has the teeniest tiniest print fonts, on the world's shiniest paper! 7) Depending on which board you select, you may not be able to see the arrows pointing to the most recent CM9 move, as well as I'd like. Black's arrow, on a darker board, is somewhat camo'd. Fritz7's arrow is gaudy yellow, but always very clearly visible. After viewing the credits, I see our guy John Merlino wears a lot of hats for the CM9 product. We just gotta get him to insist on CM getting auto232/DGT board support! I'll post up the games when I have some more. David
