I don't know what the problem is (haven't tried it) but there's nothing wrong
with malloc(), at least not as implemented by Metroworks... The average mac
hacker uses malloc() as much or more than NewPtr(), in my experience.

We've cleaned a lot of shit up since the 68k days...
