Go up one level in this thread

When every third thread is about CM and the majority not dealing with chess
playing ability, including quite a bit of repetition as well, then it approaches
the extreme.

That seems unlikely. I suspect that most do not know of its existance or how to
join. And I can't really recall a rampant wave of trivia questions about Crafty.
It's also important to distinguish between "run at your own risk" freeware
programs and a commercial product. It comes with a manual and there's a FAQ and
Support link at the website. Not to mention a Merlino e-mail address within
reach. Use them, please. That's all I ask.

My comment wasn't aimed at you, but the general content of these OT messages.
Especially since there had been one thread dealing with that topic already.

Absolutely. But you could apply a simple rule of thumb. If you have a personal
problem using product X with your computer, eg. concerning hardware or software
compatibility, use e-mail.

That goes for almost everything, so I don't think it's a useful observation. I'm
more inclined to believe that lazyness and lack of effort are the main
culprites. Why try when the answer is a few clicks away. But that is another
discussion altogether.
