James and Eugene must be the other two. Oh wait.. include 99% of my friends. There is easily another 40. >>>1) I did not install it. >>>2) I do not want it but was not allowed to buy the machine without it. >>>3) I CANNOT remove it. >> >>You chose to buy a Toshiba laptop with it installed. Not me. I CHOSE to purchase >>Windows XP. >> >>If they don't want to sell you a laptop without an OS then that is their >>problem. You as the consumer _can_ go elsewhere. > > >Sounds very much like Microsoft propaganda. How? Your not a consumer? You don't have the right to choose between product A or product B? > >I do not have other choices because Microsoft has used the power of its monopoly >to pressure the computer manufacturers in order to keep this monopoly. > >That's finding of facts by a US court. Your using Linux correct? Obviously you have other choices. >I have no problem with the Toshiba hardware, the only problem is that Microsoft >is on their back and forces them to ship their computers with XP exclusively. Forcing them to use Windows? You had better call in the FBI. That is some kind of crime I am sure. Forcing someone to do something against their will. Christophe please don't be obtuse. Toshiba uses Windows and actually PURCHASES the right to pre-install Windows on their laptops. Just as HP has done with Red Hat. The professional version of Red Hat is installed on their systems. >>>>>It is difficult to know what it does exactly. >>>> >>>>Your the one at the controls... >>> >>> >>> >>>Good joke. >>> >>>The bloody stuff insists everytime I launch it to download things from the >>>Internet. Sometimes it starts downloading without asking. I have to click as >>>fast as possible on the Cancel button to stop the download. >>> >>>I DON'T WANT UPDATES TO BE INSTALLED AUTOMATICALLY. >> >>Ok simple.. right click on "My Computer", goto "Automatic Updates" and turn them >>off. Was that hard? > > >I knew you would say that and I have already given you the reason why it is not >acceptable. It is not acceptable to turn off the automatic updates? How is that? Again are you just a clone that MUST do it because it is already turned on? >That learning curve I will not take. > >I will learn Unix/Linux instead. That's going to be time much better invested. And it might be. I am not trashing Linux/Unix. Remember I use them as well. >No sorry. This bullshit is repeated by Microsoft since 20 years with the same >result year after year. > >Look, I'm really stupid. I stopped believing them after 15 years. > >Apparently there are people even more stupid than I am. But I'm confident they >will see the light. I will agree that the Windows 9x series of Windows was horrible. I am sure even you can see that calling people stupid is not needed. They were brought up with Windows. Some will want to learn Linux/Unix.. some won't. Just because you do, doesn't mean _I_ have to. If you hated it SO much, why design Chess Tiger in a Win32 manner? >I think you should work at Microsoft. I'm sure they have a job for you in their >propagan... sorry, public relations departement. Hook me up with the job. I would love it. I can only assume I would be making more money than I am now. I would gladly promote Windows 2000/XP. Whether you want to believe me or not, I have seen though being a help desk tech when I was younger just how many "crashes" were caused by users. It had _nothing_ to do with the OS.
