Correct, and I know this. Yace 0.99.56 just cannot actively use book learning as
an UCI engine (position learning should work, however).

I did suggest this in the past - yes. Now, I would suggest, to have a minimal
yace.ini with the line

book_l 4

So, that yace will access (only read access) dblearn.bin.

You should setup the Nalimov path in the GUI. The GUI will then tell this to the
engine.
