I have sent an email to bob to help me with the decision which version to use from now on. 15.17 or 15.18. I am not sure if 15.18 is good, so i better ask him. 15.17 has played very good so far and the rule for tournaments is: "never change a winning horse..." >I do not understand the results because I believed mark young that >chess system tal is a weak program. I have no idea (without attacking mark) on which results or games or settings he came to that results. I have very good results. Also the win95 version is improved in relation to the dos version. The cd-version has definetely a bug. We have posted this and also therefore put a fixed version (cstblack) on the server. I don't see how you can get weak results, if you use this version. Of course - if you use a weaker version, or strange settings. I know chris e.g. plays sometimes on ICC, as bruce said. But the problem with chris is, he always uses the latest version. As we all know, bob has also made some lessons in LATEST VERSIONS on a tournament (paris !!), using a latest version can be sometimes very contraproductive. If bruce believes cstal general strength is that of a broken version, or of a weaker version, he or you or mark young cannot come to the right results. Also cstal has not fought against most strong programs. We have to wait... Remember in Paris cstal started also very very strong, and than was unable to get a point in the last rounds... BTW: i am in the 34th move and tiger said: Je suis mat en 9, which means: I am mate in 9... looks like the game is over in a few moves... So - the surprising results of cstal here reminds me on the same behaviour in Paris, where it also scored very strong in the beginning. Maybe we should not overestimate this. There are strong opponents to fight against... >Is it a new version of chess system tal that mark young does not have? > >Uri
