No the reverse actually.Uri will correct me if I'm wrong but I think Uri Blass
feels that when chess programs progress beyond a certain level (let's say Crafty
strenght) they should never be released as freeware (or should go commercial)
since such programs make the job of commercial engine writers more difficult
since such strong free alternatives exist.

Of course he is writing from the point of view of an aspiring commercial chess
engine writer..

Quite a few threads about this here and in the Winboard forum...in the past..
