I agree fully with Hyatt's reasons for keeping this, but I wonder why
crafty doesn't handle this right when I include the EGTB tables ?

I understand that this pops up very rarely in real games, but it is
perhaps more frequent in problems. It would be nice if crafty had an
analyze option where it would be possible to turn off this and perhaps
null move. When I analyze positions I often let them run the whole night
and it could perhaps be argued that with this much thinking time, one could
defend not using null move ?

If I have understood things correctly, crafty already evaluates things
a little differently in analyze mode, than in ordinary play. If so, does
crafty use this special analyze mode also when using the test command ?
